Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, AMFT
I work with people who hold space for others—helpers in all forms: organizers, nurses, caregivers, sex workers, educators, doulas. BIPOC folks navigating multiple worlds and carrying cultural weight. Queer and kinky people building lives outside the blueprint. Young adults figuring out who they are outside of expectations. If you spend your energy making space for others, or if survival has meant holding complexity most people don't see, this is a place to examine your meaning, your identity, and your power.

Welcome.
I work with folks navigating complexity, people whose lives, relationships, or identities don't fit neat categories. Below are some common themes and populations, but this isn't exhaustive. If you're wondering whether therapy is for you, reach out.Common Themes in My PracticeIdentity & Authenticity: figuring out who you are outside expectations, navigating multiple cultural worlds, LGBTQIA+ identity explorationRelationships & Communication: ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, kink dynamics, desire and power, navigating conflict and ruptureMeaning & Purpose: burnout in helper professions, existential questions, unlearning what no longer serves youStigma & Marginalization: sex work, adult industry, navigating judgment, holding what others don't understandTransitions & Change: young adulthood, divorce, separation, rebuilding after loss, life without a templateClients of Interest: Helper professions (community organizers, therapists, nurses, caregivers, sex workers, educators, and doulas), BIPOC and bicultural folks, LGBTQIA+ community, kinky and alternative relationship structures, sex workers and adult industry professionals, young adults, anyone living outside the lines.
"Living on borders and in margins, keeping intact one's shifting and multiple identity and integrity, is like trying to swim in a new element, an 'alien' element."
— Gloria Anzaldúa

Identity & Authenticity
Understanding the different parts of yourself and how they fit together. This includes exploring young adulthood, LGBTQIA+ identities, navigating culture as BIPOC or bicultural folks, bridging family expectations with your own truth, and the messy work of becoming yourself at any stage of life.

Intentional Relationship Structures
Navigating the relationship structures that work for you, whether you are moving through divorce, renegotiating long-term partnership, or exploring ethical non monogamy. We work on desires, jealousy, communication across multiple partners or co-parents, designing structures with intention, managing ruptures, and building frameworks that support clarity and care.

Stigma Informed and Affirming Care
Support for adult industry professionals, sex workers, content creators, and anyone navigating work that carries stigma. We explore identity, boundaries, burnout, relationships, and holding space for work that most therapists shy away from, don't understand or actively judge.

Power & Communication
Understanding and negotiating what you want, building communication skills, and making sense of desire. For those with kink affinity, this can include work in the realm of BDSM: exploring power exchange, dominance/submission in terms of what it means for you and as potential psychological material that can expand your growth and confidence.
I'm Lunarosa (she/her), a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate working under the supervision of Michelle Hider, LMFT. I'm Xicanx, queer, and a parent. I grew up in a Deep South Baptist community before finding the Bay Area as home. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 11+ years as a qualitative researcher in healthcare, listening to the stories of the most vulnerable people. I learned how to hold difficult conversations, map what's complicated, and create space where people could be honest about hard things. My background in research brings unique tools for understanding complex dynamics.I completed my clinical training through Kaiser Permanente, where I trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method, and Solutions-Focused Therapy. I'm certified through the Equitable Care Certification Program in working with sex workers and adult industry professionals.I also integrate narrative, systems, and attachment-based approaches in my work. I'm interested in the parts of ourselves that don't fit neatly into one box, the spaces between who we are in different parts of our lives, and how we make sense of all of it. Growing up between different worlds taught me that most people are holding internal tension, and that's often where the most important work happens.I believe therapy works when it's both practical and makes room for what we can't quite explain.
I can't wait to start this journey with you!
