What we work on together

Identity & Authenticity
The different parts of yourself, and how they fit together: LGBTQIA+ identity, bicultural and BIPOC experience, family expectations, and the messy work of becoming yourself at any stage.

Intentional Relationship Structures
The structures that actually work for you: ethical non-monogamy, renegotiating long-term partnership, divorce. Desire, jealousy, rupture, and communication across community, partners and co-parents.

Stigma Informed & Affirming Care
For sex workers, adult industry professionals, and content creators: identity, boundaries, burnout, and space for work most therapists are not equipped to hold with insight.

Power & Communication
Naming and negotiating what you want, in intimate relationships and other domains of life. For those with kink affinity, this can include exploring how shadow parts serve you in psychological growth, and can be integrated for greater confidence and self-knowledge.
“Living on borders and in margins, keeping intact one's shifting and multiple identity and integrity, is like trying to swim in a new element, an 'alien' element.”— GLORIA ANZALDÚA

About
Hi, I'm Lunarosa.
I'm Lunarosa (she/her): Xicanx, queer, a parent. I grew up in a Deep South Baptist community before finding the Bay Area as home. I'm a Registered Associate MFT, supervised by Michelle Hider, LMFT.
Before this work, I spent over a decade as a qualitative researcher in healthcare, listening to people at their most vulnerable, and learning how to hold hard conversations with care.
I'm interested in the parts of ourselves that don't fit neatly into one box, and how we make sense of all of it. Growing up between worlds taught me that the tension most of us hold is often where the most important work happens.
I look forward to starting this journey with you.

How we'd begin
Questionnaire
A pre-intake questionnaire that takes five minutes to complete and helps me understand your needs.
Exploratory conversation
If it feels like a potential fit, we'll schedule a free 20-minute call. We'll talk about what brings you here, what you're hoping for, and what would make your experience a success. I'll share more about my approach and what kinds of work I'm best suited to support.
Finding the right fit
Following our conversation, I'll make a recommendation for next steps. If it's a yes, we'll determine the format that best supports your goals. If another practitioner or resource would be a better fit, I'll offer referrals.
Fees

Do you take insurance?
I don't bill insurance directly. I provide monthly superbills on request, and many PPO plans reimburse out-of-network psychotherapy. Your plan's “out-of-network outpatient mental health” benefit is the thing to ask about.
How do I know if this is the right fit?
You may not know right away, and that's okay. Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of meaningful change. My goal isn't to convince you to work with me. It's to help determine whether my approach, experience, and style are a good match for what you're looking for. If it doesn't feel like the right fit, I'll do my best to connect you with someone who may be a better fit.
What kinds of clients do you work with?
I work with individuals and relationships navigating questions of identity, desire, intimacy, life transitions, family dynamics, and personal growth. I particularly enjoy supporting people in queer and sex-positive communities, those practicing non-monogamy, first-generation and multicultural individuals, parents, creatives, and people building lives outside conventional expectations. You don't need to fit neatly into any category to work with me.
What does working together actually look like?
We'll start by getting to know your story, your relationships, and what brings you to therapy now. I often recommend meeting weekly for the first four sessions so we can build momentum, get a clearer sense of your goals and get to the part where you feel some meaningful change. After that we will check in on the cadence that feels best for your shape of life. My approach is relational, holistic and flexible, drawing from different modalities depending on your needs, but much of our work centers on understanding the patterns, histories, and strengths that shape your present life.
Do I have to be in crisis to start?
No. If you're wondering whether your situation is “serious enough,” you're already doing the work by asking. And if you are in crisis right now: call or text 988, or text HOME to 741741.

Inquire about working together
If you're wondering whether therapy is “for you,” or if your situation is “serious enough”, you're already doing the work by asking. Reach out for a free consultation. We'll talk about what's going on and whether working together makes sense.
The inquiry asks about:
- Who you are, and the worlds you're navigating
- What you're looking for in this season, and what hasn't worked
- Logistics: format, cadence, and how fee conversations should go
A few short questions, about five minutes.
